Things Heating Up in Kathmandu

There has been continuous tension between the various parties vying for control of the Gov't here. May 26th is the deadline for all parties to come to a "binding agreement" on the Constitutional changes. However, such an "agreement" seems unlikely! The Maoist Leader has promised, starting May 1st Mass Peaceful Protests and Demonstrations" until the Constitutional changes are accepted. This usually means that all roads in and out of Kathmandu are blocked and inevitable "clashes" among the Protesters and the Gov't and local police!
So, we do not want to be in the Mountains....unable to get back into the city. If we remain here we most likely will have to stay in the Hotel as will all tourists or try to arrange to leave Nepal earlier than planned.
I want to capture some of the demonstrations and protests on film for our documentary, as it is a vital part of the people's lives here....and the current ruling party is as descrbed to me by a Nepali "greedy and corrupt"!
So We shall see how this will play out. The Gov't forces and local police are already in "show" in the streets in full riot gear!
We will keep you informed
Amber and Jim
